The Disconnect
An Introduction
Every book is a journey of discovery. It has the capacity to surprise the writer as much as the reader and this one is not an exception to the rule. Or, at least it wouldn’t be had it come about as it should have which is why now we’re looking at it this way.
Back in 2013 a systemic change began across the globe that made itself felt in subtle ways. Conversations across all platforms, offline actions, comments and observations. In-depth discussions and throwaway remarks. They led me to start writing a book driven by a sense that there was part of our world which was ‘Broken’, a feeling that the world we lived in, the world we all shared, was at odds with the world we’d expected to live in. This sense of disconnect became a drive. It was fed, in turn, by the stories of the many people I spoke to online and the people I met in real life.

It gave me an idea. But first, let’s establish that every book is a narrative. It has a beginning, a middle and an end. It’s held together by an idea and it, frequently, leads to some kind of closure, a resolution of sorts which stands for the kind of ending we want to achieve.
